The Arvin Green ARTS Festival festival is the first of it's kind showcasing not only local and state business innovators in the recycling and renewable energy industries, but recycled materials and "green" art work. Learn how to green your home or community from local recycling businesses such as: Mountainside Disposal, BARC, Community Recycling, Blackburn Oil and Kern County Waste Management. Also, local, state and national "green" businesses in energy, water, air, building materials, auto dealers, State agencies CIWMB, California State Dept of Conservation, Water and Air Boards will have booths and will be on hand to share their vast knowledge of how to clean the air while you save money and energy! Learn how to turn your business or home "green" and where you can find these items.

The Art Market is sure to be a hit, featuring recycled fine arts and craft items for sale. Find something unique and feel good about buying something that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill. Recycled material artists will be on site providing workshops for all ages. Learn how to use found objects and turn them into art treasures! The whole family can have fun and be creative together.

Arvin students are working hard to create unique recycled arts projects to compete for college scholarships. Teaching of local students began in the fall of 2008 for Arvin High School in their art classes and after school programs and in the after school program in the Arvin Union School District. One of their projects has been working on beautifying their city with public murals. The culmination of their works will be presented Friday night May 15th. All proceeds of this event will go to funding scholarships and the arts programs for both Arvin High School and Arvin Union School District.

Along with all of the informational booths and art work there will be a host of performers and great music playing through out the weekend. You won't want to miss the show of old cars turned in to new collectables and the GREAT food!

Art will be displayed at recycled and green art vendor booths, at the juried recycled art exhibit, and in recycled and redesigned home decor and furniture. All art will be available for sale and the perfect way to introduce the green lifestyle to your home.
